Do children have rights? Circumcision

Since I have to cancel class on Wednesday, we won't be able to cover the background on circumcision I'd planned to cover.  Please read/watch the material below on your own, before Friday.

(1)  Read this statement from the American Academy of Pediatrics.

(2)  Watch this Penn and Teller Video (below).  Be forewarned that it contains a lot of profanity and some of it is weird, disturbing, offensive, or all three.  Fast-forward if/when you need to.  Aside from being outrageous, it's also quite informative.

(3)  Do the readings for Friday!  Benatar and Benatar defend infant circumcision while Darby says it violates a child's rights--particularly the right to an open future.   Here are the readfings:

Benatar and Benatar, " Between prophylaxis and child abuse ..." (bb); Darby, “The child’s right to an open future”  (bb)
