Should we have children? For and against same sex parenting

Today we'll have our first debate.  Our readings include a defense of same sex parenting--a story by April Martin about her own family; and a challenge to same sex parenting published by the Witherspoon Institute and promoted by the Family Research Council.

Can the scientific claims in the Witherspoon article be corroborated?  We will discuss.  This wikipedia article is useful. The article by Stacey and Biblarz they cite is here.

Next time we'll move on to the topic of abortion. Our first question will be about the fetus.  Was each of us once a fetus?  As our first reading makes clear, that's a very tricky question.  Read Olson carefully!
